ClassicBoy is one of two decent all-in-one emulators. This one has a bunch of consoles including PlayStation, Sega Genesis, NES, and of course Game Boy Color, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance. It does what you would expect from an emulator. The app supports almost all the games and any that we have tested. Plus, you get save states, load states, fast forward, and cheat code support. There is even hardware controller support. The free version has some missing features that the premium version includes. The only real hit is that the app hasn’t seen an update in years and just started getting updates again. We’re sure it’ll be great again soon, but the developer is working on some things at the time of writing.
Another newer all-in-one console emulator is EmuBox. It works much like ClassicBoy but with a different list of supported consoles. This includes Nintendo DS, PlayStation, SNES, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. It has the usual features including cheat support, save and load states, and fast forward support. There is also hardware controller support. This one is surprisingly good for its novelty. It’s also completely free, with no in-app purchases. There are still some advertisements.
GBA.emu is one of the two Game Boy emulators here by Robert Broglia. This one is for the Game Boy Advance. It comes with all the features you would expect. This includes fast backups, BIOS emulation, support for cheat codes, support for hardware controllers, and even cheat codes. It is compatible with most of the game ROMs we have tried. He also plays smoothly. There is also cross-platform support with its PC version. This means you can play virtually anywhere. There is no free version to test. You will need to test it during the repayment period to make sure it works for you.
GBC.emu, also by Robert Broglia, is one of the best Game Boy Color and Game Boy emulators available on Android. Both Game Boy and Game Boy Color systems are supported, so you can play either console. It has a high compatibility rate, so most games should work. It also supports Game Genie and Gameshark cheat codes, cross-platform support with PC version, and hardware controller support. It’s open source which is good. The only downside, like GBA.emu, is that you will have to pay to play. Make sure to test it during the refund time to make sure you are happy with it.
Jean GBAC

John GBAC is the successor to two of the best Game Boy emulators for Android. It replaces John GBA and John GBC and puts the functionality of both under one roof for less than the cost of the two separately. This is a great emulator from a developer who makes great emulators. You get both virtual and hardware controller support as well as SD card support, turbo buttons, fast forward up to 16 times, slow down up to 0.25 and even a few more things like Dropbox and cheat codes. This is one of the ones we recommend first and it should work with pretty much any ROM.

My Boy is one of the most popular Game Boy Advance emulators. It has high compatibility with a laundry list of features. They include superior link cable support (via WiFi or Bluetooth), high compatibility with games, fast forward and slow down modes, cheat codes, and hardware controller support. It also has advanced features like OpenGL rendering, BIOS emulation (so you don’t need a BIOS file), and rumble emulation using your phone’s vibration engine. It offers an almost complete experience and it is impressive.
my old boy

My OldBoy is easily one of the most popular Game Boy Color and Game Boy emulators. Much like My Boy (same developer) this one has a ton of features including link cable emulation, cheat code support, hardware controller support, advance modes fast and slow motion, etc. It also includes OpenGL rendering and rumble emulation like My Boy. In fact, it’s pretty much My Boy but for Game Boy and Game Boy Color. There is a free version to try. The full version costs $ 3.99.
Nostalgia.GBC

GBC nostalgia is not as well known. However, it is still one of the best Game Boy Color and Game Boy emulators. The free version and the paid version offer the same features, including turbo buttons, high gaming compatibility, as well as on-screen controls and hardware keyboards. Unlike most, this Game Boy emulator includes a game rewind feature that lets you go back a few seconds to retry a segment. It’s fun to use, especially in platform games. The free version is ad-supported and requires an online connection. Ads don’t appear during gameplay, if that helps.

This one is completely free with no ads making it one of the most unique Game Boy emulators for Android. It has an occasional bug, but most of the complaints seem pretty minor to us.

RetroArch is a multi-system emulator that uses the Liberto development interface. This system uses “cores” which you can install and each “core” is essentially a video game emulator. It turns out that Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advanced all have “cores†that work in RetroArch, so they can all be played with one app. It doesn’t have as many features as the individually coded Game Boy emulators, but it does have a high compatibility rate. It’s also completely free, open source, and there are no ads. The only downside is that you will have to learn how to use it. It’s much more complicated than other emulators. Lemuroid (Google play link) is another similar style emulator with Liberto cores. You can try either.
