EdgeX Foundry to Host “EdgeX Smart * Challenge,” a Virtual Global Hackathon, Early 2022 |

SAN FRANCISCO, December 9, 2021 / PRNewswire / – EdgeX Foundry, the open source, vendor-independent IoT / edge platform hosted by the Linux Foundation as a member of LF edge umbrella of the project, is pleased to announce the EdgeX Smart * Challenge – a virtual global hackathon – which will begin in early 2022.

The Smart * Challenge (“Smart Star”) will highlight the applicability of EdgeX in use cases such as

  • smart building – using EdgeX in a solution that improves the safety, security or efficiency of a building or provides building residents with more comfort, quality of life or improved productivity.
  • smart farming – using EdgeX in a solution that increases the quantity or quality of plant and animal products, reduces labor costs, or improves the safety of farm workers or the food supply they deliver .
  • smart energy – the use of EdgeX in a solution that improves energy efficiency (electric, gas, etc.), optimizes energy storage or transport, reduces the environmental impact of energy consumption, improves energy sustainability or helps to ensure or protect the security of the energy network.
  • smart manufacturing – using EdgeX in a solution that improves production / plant production, optimizes supply chain flow in the manufacturing process, reduces waste, prevents maintenance or other breakdowns manufacturing system, reduce energy consumption or improve worker safety

The challenge will take place virtually over five weeks between January 24 and March 4, 2022.
