Eurocom unveiled the Nightsky RX315 laptop, which offers a 15.6-inch 4K OLED panel and desktop-grade performance while weighing just 4.4 pounds. The Nightsky RX315 will be one of the first desktop replacement machines with an OLED display in the industry. It will also be one of the only workstations on the market to include both Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card and an OLED display.
Despite its relatively compact dimensions, the system can be outfitted with up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 memory using two SO-DIMMs, and up to 16 TB of M.2 NVMe SSD via a PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 interface. x4 (when M. 2 drives are available, the laptop will accommodate even more storage).
The Eurocom Nightsky RX315 laptop is indeed quite an interesting PC which comes in a titanium black aluminum alloy chassis only 20mm (0.8 inch) thick and which contains the Intel Core i7-11800H processor. Eight-core ‘Tiger Lake’. You also have the choice between the GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB GDDR6) or GeForce RTX 3080 (16 GB GDDR6) GPU from Nvidia with a Max-Q configuration which are cooled with individual fans to ensure good air circulation.
The main selling point of the Eurocom Nightsky RX315 laptop is, of course, its display. Introduced in early 2019, Samsung’s 15.6-inch 4K OLED panels for laptops have pretty decent specs (brightness ranging from 0.0005 to 600 nits, dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000: 1, 60Hz, 100% DCI-P3, VESA DisplayHDR True Black, etc.), so that Nightsky RX315 laptop owners know what to expect. Additionally, Eurocom can calibrate the screen to provide maximum color accuracy for $ 74.
The Eurocom Nightsky RX315 being essentially a workstation, it includes Wi-Fi, a GbE port, three display outputs (HDMI, mDP, TB4), a Thunderbolt 4 connector, three USB 3.2 ports, a card reader 6 in 1, 1MP webcam, SoundBlasterX Pro Gaming 360 audio subsystem, and two 3.5mm audio jacks (controlled by Realtec ALC1220 codec and supporting S / P DIF on one of the jacks). To reinforce the security of the machine, Eurocom equips it with a fingerprint scanner and a TPM 2.0 module. Pricing for the Eurocom Nightsky RX315 with a 15.6-inch OLED display starts at $ 2,799 without Windows. The most robust configuration will cost around $ 11,000.
“Our technicians can also calibrate this impressive display to deliver perfect color reproduction right out of the box,” said Mark Bialic, director of Eurocom. “Since many of our customers are leading designers, engineers and digital content creators, having a perfectly calibrated display is essential. Meanwhile, if anyone wants a 240Hz LCD panel instead, the manufacturer also offers an IGZO Full-HD option. Meanwhile, since GPUs have four display controllers, the Nightsky RX315 can drive three external monitors as well.
