WILSONVILLE, Oregon., June 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Mentor, a Siemens company, today announced that the Veloce® Strato platform is now a customer-validated cloud computing emulation platform directly accessible on demand on Amazon Web Services. (AWS). This new data center usage model extends the availability of hardware emulation to a wide range of deployment scenarios to ensure that all semiconductor companies have access to hardware emulation for system-on-chip verification (SoC) and system of systems.

As the need for hardware emulation grows within an enterprise, there are now more options for deploying emulation solutions in a data center. Many customers choose to deploy their emulation resources in an on-premises strategy, while others choose an off-site or co-located strategy depending on business needs. There is now another separate option, as Mentor has worked with AWS to enable access to the Veloce platform directly from AWS. This milestone reinforces Mentor’s strong commitment to providing its semiconductor customers with a full suite of cloud-based services for end-to-end semiconductor design and verification.

The first pilot projects to validate the Veloce usage model on AWS were conducted by Softnautics. They provide value-added IP-based VLSIs and embedded software solutions in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), connectivity, storage and security to customers across the whole world. These pilots demonstrated not only that Veloce on AWS is secure, but that it is possible to move complex hardware technology to the cloud.

“Our commitment to our customers is to deliver a wide range of IP solutions that meet their exact needs, on time and on budget,” said Amit Vashi, COO, Softnautics. “We are excited to have our IP VLSI-based solution integrated on the Veloce platform, as well as being part of the emulation (Veloce) usage model validation effort on Amazon Web Services.”

“Having a cloud-based option for hardware emulation is about convenience and flexibility,” said Eric Selosse, vice president and general manager of the Emulation division of Mentor, a Siemens company. “Customers using the Veloce Strato platform already know the platform’s flexibility in terms of the capacity options it offers. Veloce’s additional option on Amazon Web Services gives our customers the ability to meet the capacity requests quickly and cost-effectively.”

Mentor, Softnautics and Amazon Web Services will share more details during an invitation-only lunch on Wednesday, June 27and at the Design Automation Conference in San Francisco.

About Veloce Strato Emulation Platform

The Veloce Strato emulation platform uses innovative software, running on powerful, qualified hardware and an extensible operating system, to target design risks faster than hardware-centric strategies. Now considered one of the most versatile and powerful verification tools, emulation greatly extends the ability of project teams to perform hardware debugging, co-verification or hardware/software integration, prototyping at system level, low power verification, power estimation and performance characterization. . The Veloce Strato platform further demonstrates how Mentor, a Siemens company, continues to pioneer all facets of hardware emulation with the largest portfolio of usage models (applications), excellent total throughput , faster co-model bandwidth and time-to-view, and a roadmap to the highest effective capacity (up to 15BG) available.
