As part of the summer reading program, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) presents “The History of Cannabis and Its Prohibition” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 on Zoom.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom connection.

Learn about the history of the company’s relationship with cannabis during this talk with Dr. David L. Nathan. Primary sources are presented, rather than legends and myths about the plant. There will be time for questions after the presentation.

Nathan is a New Jersey-based psychiatrist, consultant, educator, and author who is a leading advocate for evidence-based change in drug policy, consistent with the principles of public health and social justice.

Founder and Chairman of the Board of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation, Nathan has published extensively on the subject for local, national and international news organizations.

Register on nols.org/srp or at a local NOLS library branch to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge. For every 30 days that you read, you may receive one entry into the Grand Prize draw (up to two entries).

Each grand prize draw winner will be able to choose one of the following prizes: a $ 100 gift card to a local bookstore or restaurant, or a LEGO set (valued up to $ 100).

Read for 30 days and win a Summer Reading Challenge color by number t-shirt – express your creativity by filling it out yourself. Follow your reading until August 20.

Grand Prizes, T-shirts, Books and Summer Reading Program events are generously supported by Friends of the Library groups at all four NOLS branches.
